Catflap runs on your computer

Open this page on the Windows, Mac or Linux computer whose tools your AI should use.

What happens next

1
Open the download

Install it like any other app for your system.

2
Sign in

The app opens your browser once. You stay signed in afterwards.

3
Start sharing

Pick what your AI may use; the app gives you the address to paste.

Requirements

Windows

Windows 10 (1809) or 11, 64-bit or ARM. The sandbox needs Podman Desktop; the app shows you how to get it.

macOS

macOS 12 or newer on Apple silicon. Drag the app to Applications; the first time, right-click it and choose Open.

Linux

Needs GTK 4 and WebKitGTK 6: Ubuntu 24.04, Debian 13, Fedora 39 or newer. Older systems: use the command line.

Verify a download (optional)

Compare the file's SHA-256 with checksums.txt:

Terminal
$ sha256sum FILE

checksums.txt is signed with the Catflap release key, cosign.pub. To check that the sums are ours, download the key, checksums.txt and its signature, then run cosign:

Terminal
$ cosign verify-blob --key cosign.pub --bundle checksums.txt.sigstore.json checksums.txt
For servers and scripts

Command line quick start

Unpack the archive and put catflap on your PATH. On a machine without a browser, catflap login --device shows a code to confirm on your phone or laptop.

Unattended machine? Use an API key →

Terminal
# sign in once (opens your browser)
$ catflap login --gateway https://catflap.uni-obuda.hu
# share any MCP server under the name "weather"
$ catflap enter --name weather -- npx -y @mcp/weather
# or share this computer's files and shell
$ catflap enter
For your own server

Run your own Catflap

The gateway, this website and the sign-in pages (a Keycloak theme) are open source too: one container beside PostgreSQL and Keycloak. You need a domain with HTTPS and an email account for sign-up emails. The desktop app and the command line work with any Catflap server.

Terminal
$ git clone https://codeberg.org/hollorol/catflap.git
$ cd catflap/deploy && cp .env.example .env
# set your domain, passwords and SMTP account in .env, then
$ podman compose --profile tls up -d
